HELLO AGAIN. It’s been over a year. Let’s catch up..

May 1, 2021

I haven’t blogged here at Jackie Unfiltered since December 2019. To say the least, so much has happened since we talked about that cute puffer winter coat way back in 2019. 2020 shot out of a canon at a non-stop pace– COVID-19, George Floyd’s murder in Minneapolis, electing the first black woman as Vice-President of the United States, January 6’s treasonous insurrection and then the conviction of a white man for killing an unarmed black man. The world has changed and then changed again.

Hopeful for another roaring 20’s, we welcomed in the new decade of 2020 in Amsterdam at the posh and chic Pulitzer Hotel in the heart of the city. We spent a few days exploring quaint streets, visiting Museums and eating decadent meals. On December 31, we sat down to a beautiful dinner hosted by the Garfield family, expats who had recently moved to Amsterdam to pursue a new opportunity. Thirty of us dressed in our finest sequins and haberdashery. Together, we made New Year’s promises, toasted the hope we had for our future and danced the night away.

From Amsterdam, we flew back to Miami for a few days and then set off for a whirlwind first few months of 2020 traveling to Atlanta twice for philanthropic events, Palm Springs for a girls’ golf trip where I made my first hole-in-one and popping into New York for the Michael Kors Collection New York fashion week runway show. It’s safe to say that the year was on a roll for our family when the pandemic hit US soil back in February 2020.

Not feeling as if a dense New York City was the place to be when a barely understood airborne disease was spreading like wildfire, #Hubbs and I flew to our Miami home thinking we would be here for a few months until the country got the virus under control. But alas 14 months later, we’re still soaking up the sunshine in South Florida….

So that briefly catches you up to today May 1, 2021 (leaving out minor details here and there like our pandemic initiative called the Global Gift Registry). Over the next few weeks and months, I will begin posting about my fashion, food, fitness and beauty jaunts but I also reserve the right to go back in time and talk about the lessons learned over the last year and a half. There is so much to dissect.

It’s good to be in this sacred space once again. Thank you for your patience.

With love,
Jackie
